Amongst the Catfish & Plecos
Snookn21 has 6" shovelnose catfish for sale that i haven't seen before. He received them labeled as "hybrid tiger shovelnose cats wild from colombia". They really don't look like the usual rtcxtsn, as they have large spots on their undersides, and just look different. I can't put my finger on it. Any thoughts?

This is the photo he has on Aquabid...

Neat looking little beasts, maybe a cross between a tsn and a rtc x tsn .

So they don't look like normal RTCxTSN's to you either? I could decide if they were a cross of a marble pim or and a TSN or what. They didn't distinctly look like that cross either so, I wasn't sure what to make out of it. Then the fact that they are said to be wild. I trust Snookn21 that that is what they came in as, I'm just not sure his supplier got it straight. I thought this was always a forced hybridization using hormones. However, even if it is the case that these are wild, I still not the typical RTCxTSN.

Oh, and I'm debating on getting one just to see what it turns out to look like. (I better get working on the new little pond and start figuring out the big one or I'm gonna have a stack of miserable giant catfish in my 600 in a year).

You know, check out the length of those whiskers. It really starts me thinking. My babies never had whiskers quite that long at that size. Also, I LOVE the markings go down one of the whiskers. The more I look at these, the more I'm really beginning to think these are tsn x marble pims.

they are. 150%
count the dorsals. a whole bunch just got into the country.

Well ,Wet Whiskers, on the premise of investigation/research I think you should get one and keep us all posted on its progress..

I've seen these too, and pondered....they do resemble an achara x tsn, also look to have some rtc in them as well....admit it....you just want my lil' monster?! :raspberry no, really, they are sweet looking. Sounds like someone might have to be doing some tank arranging/pond upgrading in the near future???
