In the US, they're known as Sandtigers. Outside the US, they're called Grey Nurse sharks. Check out the video of the capture to remove an entanglement from around the gills of this one. Pretty amazing stuff. These sharks are very laid back, but crazy powerful and very fast. I've been in the water alot with them. One of my favorite sharks. It's nice to see these guys stepping in to save a wild one.

Nice work. How well do sharks heal from wounds like that? We caught a juvenile sturgeon 2 years ago with a rubber gasket imbedded in its tissue just behind the gills.

Sharks are AMAZING at healing. I've seen them come back from things that I would expect to kill them. This wound should heal within the month and be barely noticable at that point. It's too bad it wasn't tagged so it could be tracked.

Wow that wound looked pretty bad

Great rescue, I've always loved Sandtigers, one of my favorites to see growing up.

Aww im so glad they got if off her :) they are awesome for doing it
