Has anyone heard of it? It's a freshwater spiney eel. The markings are black and white. The one that I saw at the fish store was tiny about the size of a night crawler. Can't find any info on him.

My phone was dead when I was in the store today, I'll have to go back. They were selling it for $70.00. He said it was from africa, rare,(that I'm sure was the sales pitch) and that the largest he'd ever seen them was 8". Probably won't make it back there for a couple of days. I currently only have one tank and my tire track would have a $70 dinner if I put him in the tank with him. Plus I can't tell you how many times I've regretted buying a fish I knew nothing about. But ohhhh is it tempting.

black and wight hmmm not ringing any bells i'll do some looking post a pic if you can get one

yes there from lake tanganyika and like the water params there theyt can be kept with african cichlids but do best with the less aggressive ones nice looking eel i see them avalible from time to time mainly on aquabid never seen one in person

Not a whole lot is known about these guys... They're pretty similar to the Asian Spiny Eels... Fine substrate, lot of hiding places, like to fight with conspecifics. They only eat live foods and grow to about 14" long. There are three very similar looking eels which come from Lake Tanganyika, but they haven't been exported yet.
