Hello i have an unknown wild umbee, that im hoping for it to be a male, and i just got home and seen that the red devil layed eggs, and the umbee has still not shown a black dorsal, what are the chances of 2 females in a tank together and having one lay an egg? im hoping that my umbee is a male! what do you guys think?

^ i hope so!! hopefully they hatch then i know i got a male! i wonder how this hybrid would look? i would use as feeders and grow one out

umbee and red devil keeps lip locking, and now umbee is hella pissed and eating all eggs, would that make the umbee a female?

that would make that umbee a male even more.. The female got turned on by the presence of the male and layed eggs.. There are females that hold in their eggs and wont lay.

I think they fighting because they arent compatible. The male isnt into breeding and just wanna eat the eggs so they fight..

I feel like the fish whisperer

this doesn't mean that the umbee is a male. It is very possible for two females to still lay eggs even though there is no male present. I know its not what you want to hear :) but it is possible ask Volcomstone he experienced the same thing twice. GL though and I hope it turns out male but its not sounding good.

lopaka - y doesn't it sound good for being a male? please explain

sorry bro didn't ready it complete. sounds male as long as the umbee doesn't turn yellowish or display black on its fins.
