Will a African arow get a long with a Jardini?

Probably not. I've never kept African aros, but from what I've heard they die quite easily when they're young. I have a jar and I'm lucky that he's got quite a chilled personality. He's in comm tank with a lot of other fish, some smaller.

What I would suggest is starting the African in another tank and let him build up some mass before introducing him into the tank. That way you can also split them if something bad happens.

How big is your tank and how many other tanks do you have?

I wouldnt keep them together either. Mainly because of water conditions are quite differnt. Africian aros like softer water and more acidic. Also they are very hard to raise from a small size. Africian aros are filter feeders when they are young until they reach about a foot. So most dye of starvation in captivity because people think that they are just like the other aros of the world. I had one for almost a year but was very difficult to feed and died on me. I was feeding it fry food and a ground kelp mixture because it was as close to the plankton diet they have in the wild. Most are wild caught most large aquriums dont even keep these fish.

If you dont have another tank to separate the two, dont buy the african. Even if you do, I still wouldnt recommend it. At that size the african needs to concentrate on putting on weight, not fearing for its life and being bullied. ;)

I have heard simular things that stonecat is talking about, the feeding on these things are near impossible! You will need to feed them 3 times a day religously and that is not even a good garuntee that it will survive.

Ok, this is a bad idea for you all the way around. Don't get the African, it will die. This fish is pretty unique in it's needs.

Seems like a no brainer to me. Your largest tank is a 75g. Way to small to house either of these fish.

Save a life, do some research........
