Will a barb on a catfish grow back if it was broken

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It most usually grows back unless broken too close to the body or develops an infection or other complication. In the latter case, it may not grow back as if nothing happened but may be deformed in some way.

not sure if you mean the spine or the barbels on it's mouth.....YES, if it's the barbels on it's mouth, if you mean the 3 spines supporting fins, I would say 50/50 on it. I have caught catfish that have scarred-over spines that were clearly broken at some point, but they weren't full length and skinned-over, I mean you have to realize it's BONE, that's like US regrowing a finger, yet at the same time Axolotls can regrow limbs so who's to say a fish can't
