It will be a freshwater with no live plants to start. 90 gallon. I have an opportunity to buy a 48" light for $40.
I know it is a good price. I just dont want to grow algae faster than normal due to the bright light.
the problem isent so much the light as it is the bulbs thay are going to be more expensive then the light . and i dont see there being a problem just set your light on a timer and lift it off the glass a little thay get hot. if it were me go with a 2 bulb t5 not as hot cost less to run and cheep replacement bulbs.
The light is a steal at that price. Should be fine for your tank. Bulbs are not that expensive on eBay. You can add a pleco, ancistrus cat, or snails to deal with any algae.
At that price you definitely should buy the light. It's overkill for your tank, but if it's too bright for your preference then you can always sell it for more than the purchase price and use the profit to buy a dual T5 setup.
