Will a drop in room temp affect acrylic tank?

I barely avoided a major disaster.....while cleaning my acrylic 500 the other day I noticed a seam that appeared to be separating. It never leaked but didn’t look good. Drained and moved fish but I’m trying to figure out what happened. We had a major power outage a couple days earlier during coldest days of the year and the room temp dropped from 68 to 50ish overnight. The tank water temp only dropped a degree or to, normally 79. Could this cause the seams to fail? And can it be repaired? The pics show a piece of paper slid into the seam after it was drained.

Wow. I don’t think the temperatures would have caused that. It would have to have been a more drastic change.
Looks to me as if the original weld just wasn’t great.
Yes it can be repaired. Wick some Weldon into the open joints and weld them.
I’m not an acrylic expert so I can’t recommend a specific Weldon number but I’m sure they’re some guys on here that can.

I would empty the substrate out, clean it thoroughly and tip the tank up so that the compromised seam is down. Use acrylic square stock and weld on and fill the seam.
