I couldn't resist...I went to two different petsmarts today (and one last night) looking for the largest sen I could find to fill the hole I got left with last night. All of them ended up only having small juveniles, but they were on sale for 3 bucks so I picked one up anyways...better to start with them as young as possible anyways I guess.

I didn't notice until I got in the car, but this ones left pectoral fin is just a nub. I'm assuming the larger knife they had in the tank got to him at some point. He's still swimming fine, but I'm wondering if the fin will grow back, or if he'll just have a nub for the rest of his life?

got any pics? if it was damage or bitten, then it will grow back.

Nah I haven't been able to snap any. I'm assuming its just from a fin nipper or a fight. I'll just watch & wait, nothing I can do for it either way I guess. Just curious as to whether I should expect it to grow or not (or if I should go ahead and name him something like Lefty...the bichir without a left pectoral)

it kind of depends on how far up the damage is. if its just the rays then it will grow back but if there was damage to the more fleshy part where it meets the body it may not. either way im sure he will get along just fine.

If it's pec fins bone is there you should be ok had similar thing happen mine grew back in a few weeks. Scared me badly as it happened to a beautifull
120 dollar ornate.

^ frightening experience I bet.

I haven't been looking at it closely but I feel like there's enough there that it'll grow back. We'll see.
