Right now I can put my hand in the water to move rocks, plants and dead leaves, etc. I own Chery barbs, a gourami, giant danios, some others. No problems. Eba's have a bigger mouth and I'm not sure their temperament (just one in a community, not a pair or more). Does anyone have experience who has owned these before?

Personally had a pair and the female would attack the glass if there were eggs, wrigglers or fry. Never got bit on the hand.
Eba are pretty mild mannered - I wouldn’t really count on one attacking your hand.
Even if the EBA decides to attack your hand, no worries. They really aren't capable of causing injury.
