I see all this expensive LED lighting out there & I work at a police lighting manufacturer in the sales dept. so I have access to all the LEDs I can get my hands on really. I was wondering If I use these will they have the same effect on coloration of cichla?:naughty: Im doing a large tank soon in my basement & anything I can get for free puts more mula towards the tank itself lol.

Depends on the spectrum and intensity of the lights. I wouldn't assume lights for illuminating criminals are exactly daylight spectrum.

Well I was thinking more or less our steady burn spotlight LEDs or worklights. Alls I know is there generation 4 rated at 1200 lumens 5000K color temp. I guess I could quit being lazy and check out the specs on other products lol figured I throw it out there.

different people like different lighting. there are worse places to start with than 5000k LED's, especially if you can get a good deal on them.
I had 6000k-7000k LED floods and liked them. blues and greens were bright while reds took on a darker more sinister color. unfortunately they didn't grow plants worth a :p so I switched over to T5HO's.
I use one LED as a reading lamp now and the other will be for the backyard.
