I have a tank with an assortment of cichlids, just wondering if any of them are able to crossbreed (apart from the red and albino zebra's that is!)

Zebra's (red & albino)
Electric yellows
Electric Blues
Msuli Point Aceii
Maingano

Thanks

I'm not sure, but I doubt it. slight possibility that the electric blue and yellow haps might breed, but again, I doubt it.

Electric Yellows = Labidochromis caeruleus?
Electric Blues = Melanochromis johannii?
Msuli Point Acei = Pseudotropheus sp. "Acei" (Msuli)

I just added some scentific names for ya to tell us if those fish are in fact mbuna or not. if these are all mbuna, then yes they can interbreed.

i'm not sure what a Maingano is but the rest are mbuna and those defiantly can crossbreed.

when keeping mbuna they say the sex ratio should be 1 male to every 3-4 females. if you have built this ratio as stated above then most likely the males will breed with their proper females before trying to crossbreed out.

Sorry, not used to the scientific names here...

Electric Yellows = Labidochromis caeruleus
Electric Blue = Sciaenochromis fryeri
Msuli Point Acei = Pseudotropheus sp. "Acei" (Msuli)
Maingano - Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos (Maingano)

I do not know the sex ratio of each as I bought them all juvenile and too small to sex. due to tank layout and number of fish it's hard to determine (and some I haven't worked out how to sex yet...) They are only just getting to breeding age now at a guess (I have fry from a red zebra, no idea if dad is another red or an albino, or how to tell!)
