I wouldn't think it would suffocate it as long as you had an airstone running to oxygenate the water...

I've had to cover tanks from time to time to kill off the "Green Water" algae blooms and everyone was fine =)

no, we just moved and the tanks are in the garage, its 30f out there but the tanks hold a strong 80f with blankets.
i thought i would be alright, just wanted to check.

im goona have the wife make me some custom fit monster tank covers, think toaster covers on steroids.
