will blankets "suffocate" a tank?

No...Blankets are not air tight. Do you have an algae bloom? Or some other bloom?
 
I don't think so. The blanket is not airtight.

no, we just moved and the tanks are in the garage, its 30f out there but the tanks hold a strong 80f with blankets.:headbang2
i thought i would be alright, just wanted to check.

im goona have the wife make me some custom fit monster tank covers, think toaster covers on steroids.:naughty:
