will clams hurt my fish?

I heard they attach to fish gills or something. they would be with guppy fry, will they be ok?

There are fresh water clams out there(dont know which ones) that if they breed, the free floating clam fry can attach to the fish gills. Which can lead to death.
 
i thought they were exclusive to bitterlings but i havent had much experience in breeding let alone keeping clams
 
most that breed like this do not harm the fish overmuch from what ive read were i live this occers with raindow and other darters and it does not harm the fish visibly
