I got this guy like that and it has been 1 month already. No sign of healing so I was wondering if there is a surgery or anyway of making the tail and fins fused back together.

Do you have a clearer picture?
Is he eating well?
IME, split fins always grow back. Unless the bone is no longer there.

It should grow back together. Like fishguy7 said, make sure he is eating well, and make sure he is not being chased around.

Not to be rude, but that sounds like a bad idea to me. Especially at that size. If anything, trim the fin down to the base of the split, and it should grow back. Give it more time, and feed him more per day before doing anything.

i have 7 bichirs and when one gets fins ripped i use API stress coat+ that has aloe vera to repair fins and it works really well... thats the best way i know of and only way i do it.

Dont trim it! all i do is put some melafix in and let it heal, which it will ,i just bought another ornate and hes got a few split fins and thats all i will do,and i know it will heal fine

Cheers steve

yeah most of the times, it'll grow back just fine, but once in a while, it'll just stay that way.

IMO just give it time. I think surgery is a bad idea and may do more harm than good. I have had fish with a lot more damage to their fins that yours has and they have always grown back good as new.
