I have my siphon gravel vacuum connected to my outdoor sprinkler system and i had to do some repairs.

Someone who lived here before me had painted the outside of the PVC pipe that connects to the hose bib that i have the siphon screwed into.

I had to move the connection and using a female adapter and plumber cement and fixed the problem.

After it was sealed up i realized there was a little bit of the exterior paint that was sealed within the pvc adapter, which was also covered in the cement.

This would obviously be a very small amount of paint and it may be completely sealed in the cement anyway, but should i be concerned and redo it with new pvc? anyone have a bad experience like this?

has anyone painted the inside of their aquarium with exterior paint and either had or not had problems with chemicals leaching? Not exactly the same scenario since the only water that would potentially be an issue would be when i go to refill the tank during water changes.

i really dont want to dig up and redo the hose bib...again.

Personally, I can't see a problem being created. I'd expect the cement should cover the paint, and whatever exposure there could be to be some limitted I wouldn't go thru the hassle of digging it up.

thanks for the reply. I think you are probably right. However, after everything i have put into the aquarium and the fish if anything happened....i think i would just get out of the hobby at this point.

I looked around and found all the spare pvc adapters i needed at home so i redid it last night, in the dark. But i feel much better about it. The things we do for our fish!
