how deep should i go with these guys?

i have a 7x5x3 pond(its on construction) and can push my mom's rules up to 14x8x? will that be ok for him for like uhm like 4-5 yrs?

At two years old, mine was 6 feet long. That won't fit too well in a 14x8.

As for depth over all, even at full adult size I've seen 5 foot depths used just fine.
