Red wood city
I have stocked my 120g tank with a 5" red devil, 5" jack dempsey, and a 7" red terror. Do you think it will work out? Do i have room for anything else?

IMO, The red Terror will outgrow the other two and kill them. The red terror wil grow to around 20" and are extremely agressive

its possible it could work i would think the rd would be the most aggressive but i have never owned a true festae can only go by what ive read. u just never know

This is the second time I've heard of a red terror growing to "20 inches"

I would like to say that 10 inches is a much more reasonable and realistic figure. Red terrors do not get anywhere near that big.

If you have *ONLY* those 3, there will be mass fighting, as there isn't enough fish to dilute the aggression at all. One will quickly kill the others.

I feel sorry for the Jack dempsey, with those two in there with him. cos he probably will get murdered first. then its between the rd and rt and to be honest it will depend on growth rate if the terror ourgrows the devil youve got a dead devil and vice versa.
of course they may get along but in a 120g tank that isnt likely. if it was 300 galls then its possible.

santoury, have you ever owned a red terror?

i have had three over the years and the biggest was a male at 18" , the females are much smaller and that why they tend to get killed by the males.
my last red terror lived with a 12" jaguar cichlid and 9" red head cichlid and a few others it had to be moved out at 6" because it started to attack the other fish this was in a 150 uk gall tank.

I have (look at my sig) in a 120g and there is no aggression at all, so i dont see why it wont work.

An 18 inch red terror? Now that's something I've never heard of, and I've been keeping Cichlids for many years, until my focus on lungfish grew. I have had festae, yes - Any pictures of a festae larger than 10 inches would be much appreciated.

That tank still is a murder X 2 waiting to happen. Only one will live, depending on each of their personalities.

yes red terrors are aggresive, did we determine is it was male-no
have you ever seen a 20" captive male red terror-no (i don't belive anyone has)
will the red terror outgrow the 125-yes
could it possibly kill the tankmates- yes
will it kill the tankmates-not nececrailly

so imo, the red terror could possbliy kill the tankmates, though it may not nececrilly kill them, at the sizes they are at, they may become accostom to eachother, and there won't be aggresion as adults, but you never know.

Which species of fish do you suggest adding to help dilute the aggression? More cichlids? Thank you.

if you want other cichlids in there i would suggest move the RD and RT to a diffrent tank or sell them.... unless you are attached to them
