Hi,

I am considering adding one of the 3 L´s above to my tank but I have and intend to keep a few apple snails (Pomacea bridgesi) to take care of leftovers and algae.
So, either a

a) L241 - Galaxy/vampire pleco, or a

b) L268 - Ancistrinae sp, or a

c) L600 - Leopard pleco, cactus pleco, Pseudacanthicus leopardus

The questions are:
-I know the 3 are carnivorous/omnivorous but will they prey on the apple snails or leave them alone as long as they´re properly fed?

- Is one of the above species more predatory than the others? (possibly the L600...?), how would you rank them using this criterion?

Thanks in advance

I have an L007 vampire pleco (only 3" SL), and 2 L114 Leopard Cactus (some thing L600 is same as L114) (4 and 3"). They don't appear to eat the ramshorn or pond snails that are in my tanks. However, try to keep them well fed with NLS pellets, earthworm sticks, zuchinni (the vampire eats zuchinni), hikari wafers and Ken's scraper wafers, blackworms and frozen bloodworms. Maybe they would eat the snails if they get really hungry?

Thanks for your reply.

Any other opinions?

Not a good idea if u care about the snails. I am not saying this will happen for sure but The plecs could rasp on their shells causing them to be fragile making it easier for them (plecs) or other fish to attack and eat them. Or they will just look bad.

From the 3 mentioned the l-241 would be top of the list Followed by 600 and then the 268.
