Here.
Hello , I am geting a pr of young Motoro's in a few days and am considering geting another pr to house together in a bigger pond as it will only have the rays and no other fish.
I have seen a heap of vids with alot of rays together but am not sure on the sex's.

I can't seem to find any information on if the males will fight or not , I can only seem to buy Motoros in prs over here ( Brisbane Australia)

Thanks if you can help

Juveniles won't fight its when they become sexually mature and there are females present you might have a problem. Many people keep multiple males in a breeding colony but you have to realise in most situations the tank is huge, often 1000s of gallons. With all fish its much easier to mix both species and sexes if you have the volume.

This is generally correct for this species.Once the claspers are as thick as a biro (pen) and 2.5inches long thats a pretty good indication.

Ok , Thanks for the information , I am getting one pr , would it be better to buy another pr and sell one of the males ( if I can find someone who wants a male) or just keep the 4 together, 2 males /2 females
My logic is if the male gets a bit nippy he would have two females to chase not just one, but will this work with another male as well?

ok a forum member on here ( in australia) has pups for sale , I got my male/female pr today , and am wondering if I should get another pr another two females or what would be best.
Ideally I would like to have 4 - 5 in my big tank that is geting made now - around 8-9foot X 4 woot wide.. I am guessing I may need a bigger tank yet again if I keep more than 2 - 3, but worst happens I can put them in a heated pond that is alot bigger.
