so I made a filter for my pond, it is filtering it about 7x a hour. But the only way the water level will stay still is if I cover it with an air tight lid. Would the lid cause too much pressure for the filter ? Or will I be ok?

I've worked at a Koi place many years ago and I remember having dropped a 55g barrel full of water off a pick up truck with zero spills lol those things are pretty indestructible and I'm pretty sure it won't blow or explode with 7x turn over

How many psi of pressure are you running in the drum?

Multiply height in inches x circumference + (3.1415 x R^ 2 ) x 2 = surface area of the drum in square inches.

surface area X psi (pounds per square inch) = pounds of force on the drum.

Pushing water into
Pushing water into it is going to put alot of strain on the seals and they will eventually fail, sucking water out of it pulls the seals together so it will last longer.
