I got myself a pbb Chad around 18" a few months ago. I quarantined it and aa soon as I put it in the tank it started to bite my other bichirs. Not enough to mess them up but to the point where they are pretty much hiding all the time now. I have 8 bichirs right now in a 225g and as soon as they get close to the pbb they get bitten. Will he chill out in time or be an assh*ole forever? Great appetite though and very active.

Recently got 3 PBB 14-15”… 1 out of 3 had some early anger issues as well. It subsided after 1 week and heavy feedings. Was worried a bit the first few days. The more i fed the more he chilled out. Surprisingly it was not the largest of the bunch either. In my short experience with the species they are very bold. Come up to my hand and even bite my siphon tube ?… by far my most active and entertaining bichirs. Always cruising every level of the tank. I feed heavily twice a week. I hope ur guy chills out for u, if not, add a cple more lol…

he doesn't go out of his way to bite them but still.. it makes that clicking noise when he bites. Sand goes flying and bichirs as well. He even bites at my tinfoils lol

lol… sounds like he needs “checked”… after about a week my others started giving it back to him. Since then its been trouble free, they just come after me in the tank now ?

I don't know if it's worth keeping this post updated but since it doesn't cost anything and I have nothing better to do right now, here I go.

I ended up selling it. Even after a year, it had mellowed out a little bit but not enough to my taste.
I got rid of my african cichlids back in the day for the same reason. Because I got tired of fish bickering all the time and it's not what I want to see when I sit in front of my tanks.

I took this video a couple days before it's new owner came and pick it up.
