ok well the tetras i was gonna use as testers are too expensive:irked:. i wanna know will my ornate pim eat a school oh like 20 giant danios? i saw some at the san diego zoo in a huge tank with bala sharks, and a few sun cats. so would my pim eat some giant danios? thnx:confused:

Just confirming, the diet of your catfish is not going to be danios right?
Your wondering if you put them in, will the catfish eat them because he is a catfish right?

My answer would be yes just because I have its cousin if you will.
Anything that can fit in its mouth will. Its one of those things, it acts and asks questions later, lol.
So I think it will eat the danios slowly or just kill them.
But its your call.

ok well good thing they are cheap, and afterwards i will go throw them in my moms classroom tank. and yeah it was a will the pig eat them? he has allready eaten probably a dozen or so tetras in my moms 30. (one of my dempseys to a chunk out of him, and he is there to grow some and heal, heal check, grow almost there)

i would not do it.

ok you seem to know what your talking about when it comes to fish, so what should i use as testers, or whatever you wanna call them to cycle the tank?

i would use some barbs.

if he can catch them and fit in his mouth then yes but I highly doubt it... he might cull the school of slower/sicker danios. Cuz they're giant danios they're more powerful inch for inch than a regular zebra danio and its similiar sized cousins I do believe the danio is faster than the pim.

ANOTHER variable is the size of the danio- as well as size of the tank for the danios to swim around if its a 30g then its quite not much escape route the danio can use as the pim can corral the danio using the walls of the tank... seen that behavior in some catfish i kept before.

Very active top level swimmers do not attract interest from the cat's perspective in my experience compared to slower mid/bottom/level swimmers
