Ok so I got this firemouth and put in my 55 with my parrot, and I had to take the parrot out and put it in a different tank because the firemouth was stressed and the parrot was very agressive towards it, and it went for a 5 hour ride in the car and this all happened in the same day, i moved the firemouth to the same tank as the parrot cause I want to put the parrot in the back in its old tank, what I was wondering was would my parrot be sad if I moved it back to its old tank? The reason it might be sad is it Is with 2 other parrots right now, and in my 55 there is other parrots but they are baby's and it's a 4 1/2 incher and theres no other big fish I got the firemouth because my parrot needed a friend. I could get it another parrot for it if I move it back but that would be risking another aggression problem, but it might work because it is getting along good with the other 2 parrots right now.

stress is a completely different concept than a feeling

Stress for humans is different then the stress fish have, stressed fish have had their instinct to be afraid for its life triggered, so therefore are spastic, hide, show darker less showy colors, try to run, etc. so unless you do that every time you have a midterm, then you don't share the same stress as a fish.

I don't agree with the first people there. I do however believe that it will need to see the tank to understand the difference. I once moved a texas cichlid out of a 30 gallon to a 10 (it was small) hospital tank to treat it. It could see the origional 30 gallon from the 10 so it became obsessed with trying to get out and jump back into its old tank. I put a stiff lid on there and went to work but when I came back she was dead. : (. She killed herself trying to get back into her old tank. I found out from this that it can happen, though if the tanks are in different rooms or something I do believe it would work out fine.. I think that the reason she died is that she could see her old tank and it was bigger.

They are smarter than you'd might think.

If they are in different rooms or anything it will probably be fine. they might be stressed for the day but if they were happy in the tank before they probably will be again

I had to move my fire eel from a smaller tank to a bigger tank, due to its growing size. Tanks were right next to each other. A few days after the move, the fire eel manage to jump from his new tank and into his old tank during feeding, and it went straight back to its old hiding spot.
