will my fish still breed?

this shouldnt be in the breeding section cause nothing has happened yet but still would my convicts or firemouths breed when i have nothing in the tank besides sand??

Their substrate shouldn't effect their breeding.

so they will just dig a pit in the sand and lay eggs then?

put in a piece of slat or a rock laying flat on the bottom for them to spawn on... they would probably clear the sand and just spawn on the glass bottom though.
