It won't be able to physically eat them, just looking at its mouth should show you that.
That doesn't mean it won't kill them though. I recommend checking the fins/barbels/tails of the catfish a couple times a day for the first couple weeks. The combo can work but not guaranteed.
Maybe a couple of nips but it wont be able to eat them. Careful though, it could do some serious damage to them if left unchecked. My gator attacked my bichirs. Lucky i observed them. Took it out after one hour once it decide to attack my bichirs before any serious damage is done.
