This might be a stupid question to ask I have very little knowledge about fish keeping I'm new to the hobby I have a 12 inch long silver arowana and a 1 1/2 inch baby datnoid in the same tank with an egg crate to separate them the egg crate is starting to become an eye soar as well it's taking away space i was wondering if they both can be kept together without the baby datnoid becoming a meal my silver arowana has ate live minnows before will that be an issue?

I think it would with that size difference!

if it fits in its mouth its possible it will be eaten. and imo its not worth the risk.

It's posible. Once my arowana kill small hypostomus plecostomus. :) But never attack my crown loach.

Fishes eat fishes n insects in the wild. It lose that in the captive.

Try n see.

That is not true. There are plenty of stories of people that have a lot of trouble getting certain fish off of live foods.

It's depend on the diet you giving him and IF its got used with that type of food then It might ignore other thing (still not guaranty though cause a predator is still a predator at the end...Kill other thing is that their nature instince). I got Hoplias ignored all other fishes that easy for it to swallow whole 1 bite and decided to wait for the frozen smelt.
*Note: My hoplias will prey on bright color fish like silver/yellow/organge color similar to rosy red and comet live feeders but totally ignore with that in dark color :p

It doesn't make a difference what you're feeding it or how long it has been in captivity. There is a very slim chance that the datnoid will survive, regardless.
