It's a 67 gallon with a 15g sump. I have these fishes in my 50g and they are only juvies so I am upgrading now before it's too late.

1 bgk 6-7"
1 senegal bichir 6-7"
1 blood parrot 3"
1 severum 3"
1 opaline gourami 2.5"

I have to adopt the gourami and bgk because the owner didn't like them and keeping them in a 20g tank :(
They are getting along very well in my 50g for now.
The filtration system I will make will have very large amount of biological media. It's the biggest tank I can fit in our house due to limit of space. Do you think this could work?

Using only typical biological and mechanical filtration, I'm calculating you'll need a daily 30-40% water change in a 67 gallon using the following lengths:

1 bgk 14"
1 senegal bichir 8"
1 blood parrot 8"
1 severum 10"
1 opaline gourami 6"

This calculation is only due to nitrates and doesn't address any aggression or feeding issues. (I calculated 2 lbs of fish at those length and used 3% daily feeding which are conservative.) If you add certain plants or something like Purigen (to remove the nitrogen and fix it for later removal) you can reduce the WC. Use enough and you can probably get to a much more manageable 50-60% WC on a weekly basis.

Plants (pothos, for example) are nice attractive additions and Purigen is quite easy to use with a sump, so you have good options. Otherwise, nitrates will become a serious issue if left unchecked.

yes I will be using purigen in my filter. but I think not the pothos because it's toxic? I have a 4 year old sister that loves to play except for my fishes. She might play with the plant. I read that you can use purigen again when it exhausts?

Is pothos only toxic to animals?

Yea, best to avoid around naturally inquisitive beings (aka, children.) Can cause burning sensations in the mouth in small amounts.

Purigen will do fine. Just get some, bag it, put it in the water flow somewhere, let it turn from white to brown, "purge" it following directions, put it back in. I think Seachem or someone else who has it suggested you can do that a good 6-8 times, but don't quote me as my memory isn't pristine on that part.
