i got big, long voids in the silicone seams on my 150 and am scared its going to burst. i resealed the interior of this tank not to long ago and these voids were present then but i dont remember there being so many or as big(but maybe they were). some are a good 5" long and 1/8" wide, the glass is 1/2" and none of these voids are exposed to air, they are completely surrounded by silicone. they are on all 4 vertical seams of the tank, and doing a tear down and complete reseal is not an option right now. im thinking bout dropping the water level 6"(27" tall tank) and throwing some clamps on the seams till i get a new tank, or am i just trippin?

i tihnk you should be a lil worried but keep those claps on i feel you. my 75g has a broke brace and i fille dit up a bit too much an it was bbowing like crazy. i had CLs in there and they were eating a crix off the top and i heard clicking i was like oh **** i thought the seams were poping!

I've been in your position with a 750 that was about to burst. It's not fun. I have no idea if your problem is seriuos enough to fail or not, but I am pretty sure you're not going to get a good nights sleep or feel comfortable standing in front of it until it's fixed. Better off safe than sorry.

today i drained 8" of water out the tank as i could clearly see the seams are worse today than they were yesterday, and the top of the tank is bowing a good 1/2" in the middle.:nilly: because the water level is so low im down to one canister, my hob's wont pull water that high, but i did zip tie my bio wheels in the current of my powerheads.

good news is tommorow my fiance is buying me a brand new 180 with stand, but shes not really happy bout doing it. i was supposed to buy a new tank with my tax returns but i bought a new lcd tv instead. two days after i bought my tv is when i noticed my tank going, but its cheaper to replace a tank rather than a burst tank, carpet, drywall, another new tv, and furniture.

Tell your fiance how wonderful they are!:)

dude set your camera to MACRO focus so i can see the silicon not the blurryness... anyways when you resealed the silicone did you seal over the old silicone or did you strip it all then resealed it? because if you stuck the silicone over the old one it's not gonna work... trust me... :(

i resealed the interior beads after spending many hours stripping the old crap out, but didnt touch the silicone between the glass panels.between the glass panels is where its seperating. this tank is old and i should have redone the whole thing the first time, but didnt.

Tell your DF how grand she is...many many times.

When's the new tank getting in?
