Will my tank fail?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Test it out outside so if it busts it'll just water your lawn.

I would NEVER risk a faulty tank at that size indoors.

I wouldnt trust it. especially on the bottom 0.0 and if its a tall tank the question would be 'when will my tank fail' and not 'will my tank fail'. Also FYI ALL tanks fail at some point. whether its 200 years down the road, or in ohhhh 15 minutes tops. Most tanks wont survive a big earthquake unless there HEAVILY reinforced with concrete, 6 feet thick glass, etc. Even then the better question is still 'when will my tank fail' just imagine that giant watch up in the sky ticking and tocking the seconds til the failure of our equipment.

It may depend on the way the plastic trim was manufactured. Is it a one piece frame or are they individual pieces with miters at the corner?

Also, what is the thickness of the glass?

Some manufacturers' say the plastic trim is necessary as part of the tank structure, others say it is cosmetic or only to facilitate using glass canopies.
