I don't see why not, they aren't going to starve themselves just because they are laying eggs.

There are some species that won't eat during the care of their eggs. But I don't think Oscars are one of those species.

Thanks. I know when the Miyan , Peacock cichlids and few others in area canals spawn they dont eat wont touch a hook .

This actually has to do with canal in area with jumbo Oscars that look to be spawning wanted to catch one just for fast pic than let it go but they havent hit a lure nor live worm,etc so thought perhaps might be due to spawning if they are are spawning as not sure.

figured would ask if anyone knew
