Will overflows be enough?

I have a 180g with a 30g sump filter and 1800gph pump. The tank has two corner overflows. Is this filtration enough or do I need to add something that pulls water from the bottom of the tank? I plan on putting P bass and a couple stingrays in it. In all my past tanks I have always pulled water from the top with one filter and the bottom using an extended tube with another filter. I like the clean look of the overflows but just want to make sure that they work by themselves. I don't want to buy any fish until I do my homework. Tank is up and running with just water right now.

I have a sump on mine and I have a powerhead with a sponge on it that sits in the opp corner to help with circulation but an airstone should also do a good job.

Do the overflows have a removable panel on the front with a grid halfway down?

They are solid all the way down. I thought about running a magnum 350 up through the bottom of the tank within the overflow box and having the inlet exit the lower side of the overflow and returning it out the bottom of the other side. It could be done fairly easily by draining the tank and drilling some smaller holes and using threaded hose barb fittings. Then I got to thinking that I didn't want to add extra maintenance if I didn't need it. That and the overflows make the tank look clean.
