And is it going to be ok for 2 Motoro Stingrays? I have fine black sand in their tank now and some sand floats at the top of the water because the Rays sift through it so much. It's time for a change. 50 pounds of pool filter sand is only $8. I will get 2-3 bags for my 180. I spent $80 + for 100 pounds of the black sand.

I wouldn't add more then 2 bags. You don't want it to be too deep. I would say not more then an inch deep. Post some pictures when your done so we can see what it looks like.

Here are some pics of my tank as of today. Within the next 2 weeks my tank will have the pool filter sand in it, taking out the plants and adding some cholla wood in there from the top down. I will also be building a canopy too. My water is still whitish looking after 6 months though. I don't know if it's the water (even after reverse osmosis too) or it's from the sand I have in there now.

Naw, not so much or at all.

the pool filter sand will be fine i use it but rinse it super good and your tank will be cloudy for a few weeks from it so be prepared its real dirty

sand goes really far... 1 50 pound bag will cover alot...most likely be enough for your 180...
