I am trying to very the diet with my rays but they just don't like anything I have tried except earthworms and ghost shrimp. I feed them mainly earthworms which starts a feeding frenzy and ghost shrimp every once in a while because they love them as well. They will not touch frozen krill even after a 2 day starve out. I have tried silversides which they nibble on but don't devour. I was thinking about trying beefheart which I used in the past when I kept bichirs and cichlids. Has anyone tried it with Rays?

Never tried it with my rays but if they are nibbling on the silversides you are half way there. Ive also heard of some ray owners starving their rays for a week to get them eating certain foods. Try starving them longer than two days.

My rays have ate beef heart before, it was their second favorite food, the first being frozen bloodworms and they were eating frozen beefheart within the first 3 days that I had them. To get them to eat the beefheart I mixed it in with frozen bloodworms. Have you tried that?

i have starved for over a week... hungry rays eat anything... i never fed mine beefheart though never even considered it... i fed silversides and smelts shrimps cockles clams muscles etc... pellets krill etc...

if they are nibbling on the silversides try cutting them in half long ways maybe they are having trouble fitting it in their mouths, that worked for me. occasionally they eat beefheart but their ultimate favorite is the live blackworms.

I haven't tried the beefheart yet, but I am going to. I hate silversides cause they stink LOL!

Raw prawns are my rays favorite food and all my rays seem to take to the prawns much quicker than other types of frozen foods.

Do you leave the shell on or do you cut the meat up leaving the shell out?
