Hey i dont have any fish yet and i want to get an oscar. jack dempsey, jaguar cichlid, midas cichlid, and a green terror. if i get Red tails or bala sharks will they be ok.

Also could somebody tell me how fast red tails grow or put your pictures up?

Thanks.

first what sized tank are they gonna be in? i think you will need a massive tank for this to work.... most of those fish will eventually kill each other.... in my expierence red tailed sharks grow slow and dont get very big.... i honestly dont think most of those fish can get along.......

Stay away from Red Tailed Catfish. They grow fast and reach 5ft in length will eat anything and everything that'll fit in their mouths and unless you have at least a 1000 gals or good sized pond housing one long term will be impossible.

I'm sorry I thought I saw Red Tailed Catfish.....my bad

Red Tailed or Bala Sharks aren't a good fit with those fish either, IMO.

Im pretty sure a redtail shark would be lunch for any of those fish you mentioned and i agree youre going to need a pretty big tank to house all those cichlids plus I dont think theyll be able to be housed together long term it will be ugly

i think he means red tailed shark Epalzeorhynchus bicolor

I tried one with a flowerhorn juvi and the flowerhorn bit the sharks head off.

My mates female JD did the same also.

It will not work once the cichlids start to get big. The Bala Sharks can get big too... even of you could keep them as a dither type of fish I think they get to like 12" or close to it and they should be kept in groups of 3-5. If you got all the cichlids small and put some red tail sharks in the tank they will prob be ok for a while, but not for too long as I already stated those cichlids you want get big, aggr and hungry. They WILL become dinner... IMO. Jaguars & Oscars... forget about it, these guys like to eat man.

A full grown large cichlid might eat the red tail sharks if they were very hungry and they could catch them however red tail sharks don't usually get along, multiples fight all the time, and they have no issues killing each other.
