Will regular aquarium safe silicone be strong enough for my 170 gallon tank?

I've got a 170 gallon aquarium which is 72"x30"x18". I just replaced the front and side panel. I was wondering if there is a silicone recommended for it's strength? I've also heard GE 100% silicone 1 works great, but is it strong enough? I noticed the tank was glued together with black silicone. Is black stronger then clear?
