Exactly what the title saids.....but would that make it quiet instead of the grinding noise? i just replaced the impeller and found a brand new motor for cheap so will it make it shut up?

I have 5 AC110s running on different tanks, and one of them (it's actually an AC500) is 9 years old and within the past few months started to get real loud grinding. I found that the motor shaft had a groove worn into it. I replaced the motor with new and all I can hear now is the slight hum from the motor and water going into tank.

start with a impeller its cheaper then the motor. The motors useualy run for ever.

Yeah probally an impellar. I also have 5 Ac 110's and they are a great filter. I run 2 on my 2 50 breeders and 1 on my 39 hex tank.

Just get an impeller, it may still make a small amount of noise until it seats itself properly and then it will be quiet again after a day or so. It always worked for me at least.
