I'd like to get some shrimp for my tank but I doubt they'd survive. Tank is a 75gal. Currently in the tank are a bunch of tetras. Golds, Lemons, Silvertips and neons. There are also 3 pleco, small species maxing out at 4-5". 6 oto's and 8 cory cats and 8 beckfords pencil fish. There is also 3 Geophagus Red Head Tapajos. They're the fish I'm worried about. They don't bother any of the other small fish in the tank so I'm not sure if they would bother shrimp. Tank has a bunch of drift wood, some slate and about a half dozen live plants scattered around. Let me know if I can do shrimp or not. Thanks.

Geophagus might eat them.

^I agree. If the fish can fit the shrimp in it's mouth then it will eat them. Now if you go for a larger species like bamboo shrimp then it may work out. As long as your fish are peaceful.

Shrimp will be preyed upon by the cichlids. Doesnt matter if they are peaceful or not. Any and all shrimp will be eaten. The only thing that might have a chance is a big crayfish.

Ok. I don't know much about geos so I wasn't certain. When I said peaceful I meant a community cichlid. I know there are cichlids out there that CAN be kept with larger shrimp with out a problem.

OK guys, Thanks. I dont want to do a cray or larer shrimp cause I don't want my tetras and plecos to be eaten. Thanks for the info.

Bamboo shrimp are filter feeders they won't eta your fish. A crayfish will eat a fish if it can catch it. Personally if you want inverts I would look into snails, they have a little more protection than shrimp.

That really depends on the species, and personality of the crayfish. My crays never bother my fish. Nor do they bother my shrimp. In fact my shrimp hitch rides on the crayfish sometimes.
