Self explanatory title, we've all seen the arguments on how the only asian aros people want are domestic/line bred anyway and pose little to no threat to the status of wild populations because of how dense their domestic populations are. I do however remember reading something or seeing some petition to get the US ban lifted. Any news on this?

Flint town!
There are alot of threads on this. The issue seems to be that it would take someone in charge in the government to actually look into the issues and set up protocol to insure that asian aros being brought in to the u.s. are infact farm bred and chipped. That's alot of money and time that they are not going to spend. Easier to just say no.

I wonder if any of the farms or breeders have attempted to look into the matter, like chipping and tags for the US. I feel while it could cost a lot of money, they stand the chance to earn it back in the US market.

The principle goal of every politician and "public servant" in the world is not to serve the people, not to better his country, not to improve the world...it is to keep his/her job. They are usually chosen either by being elected or by being appointed by someone else who was elected.

Today's world is more tumultuous than ever, between Covid, climate change, economic collapse and all the other perils that we are constantly being told we need to fear. The environmental greenies spend a lot of time and money banning any trade in any living things. Whenever a species gets "protected"...whether it really needs to be, and regardless of the fact that sometimes the "protection" makes them worse off than before...then they have the resources to spin doctor the situation and make themselves look like heroes.

Any politico that puts forth the idea that tax dollars and time should be spent on making it easier for you to buy a particular tropical fish for your aquarium would be committing political suicide.
