Hello
I was wondering if the new Floresent bulbs (6500k ) will work in a 75 gal. tank I used to have the shop light dual bulb as my lighting fixture . The Balast when out so i tryed this.

Tropical fish are in the tank nothing special in it .:)

Yes. I use 6700k T8 lights for almost all of my tanks. The color of them is perfect for me

I use two 4 foot double bulb shop lights in my 300 canopy with 6500k T-8 bulbs from Menards. I love them.

Well these are like the ones you find in you home light sockets screw in type with 2 shop light reflectors ..

It should still be fine, but the light might not be as even

Watch out for condensation build up. I Have some on an open tank and fitted some in a hood. The hooded ones blew, as the higher condesation got into the balasts and shorted them... On the open tank the work great!

I tryed the T8 6500k daylight bulbs in my 75 gal tank today and really didnt like them at all. Mind you it was bright but just to plain looking. didnt help the colors of the fish at all. Im going tomorrow to get a 50/50 bulb which is 50% blue actinic and 50% 6000k daylight. which should be bright enough but with a hint of blue to bring out the colors of the fish.
