I just got the surprise of my life two days ago, lol. (Well.. not really... you get the point. ;)) My Red Top Hongi Cichlid, that I thought was a male, had spawned with my Hybrid African Cichlid. (Yellow Lab x Red Zebra) Turns out that the Hongi was a female, and now she has a mouth full of eggs. What I'm wondering, is if I strip the eggs/fry in a week or two, will their actually be fry? Or will the eggs be unfertile? I'm hoping that they turn out, lol. Do you think that there is any chance at all of them being fertile?
Not sure why I just don't shut-up and wait and see myself. Guess I just wanted to share. :D
(Pic of the male Hybrid below. Couldn't get a shot of the female Hongi. Hides too much now that she has fry. Used to be the most aggressive Cichlid in the tank. I guess aggressive+aggressive=fry. :D)
