Hey, I have a 125gal and my stock includes:

1x reg JD female 5''
1x EBJD male 4.5''
1x EBJD female 4''
1x Convict male 3''
2x senegal 6''

I keep the temp at a pretty constant 79degreesF with good filtration and circulation.

All of my tankmates get along well with the occasional aggression usually from either my female reg JD or my Convict, but overall everyone gets along great. My question is will/can I expect my male EBJD to Breed with my Reg JD female in the future. I of course understand that the eggs won't survive long without separating them from the current occupants I merely want to know if these fish will breed under these conditions

Pairs have formed and breed under more cramped set ups than your 125. However you might have a few issues to deal with. 1st is that if your Convict is really nasty to the point where he intimidates others in the tank (as they offen do) this could prevent a pair from successfully having fry. 2nd EBJD can be shy, nonaggressive, and even sterile. I know this from experience where I had a regular 5 inch female jack and a 6-7 inch EBJD. The female laid eggs every two weeks for like 5 months and the EBJD male acted like he was fertilizing them and nothing ever happened. EBJDs can be BEYOND frustrating!!!

OK thanks I may just buy a reg male JD and just wait till they breed. The male i have right now seems to have no interest in her even before I was given the Convict.
