I've never seen a cichlid not eat a smaller fish. I have even seen angels eat neon tetras.

There are plenty of cichlids that won't but the two you listed will my male JD will eat feeders but my female didn't i've heard of some people saying there midas/devil won't eat feeders but theres plenty that will

i dont agree with you shouldn't feed them feeders because feeding live food every so often to the fish gives them more color even though its not the most nutritious
