have been after a clown knife for a while, but when i look in my lfs, they all have NO dots! sometimes only one or 2. do these increase or do they stay like this for life? these are about 3"-5"

thanks

I have no experience with these fish but from ive heard, no they dont. They are born with little stripes, then they turn into little spots. Hope this helps, take it for what its worth...

From what I've seen, some CKs tend to lose spots as they get older. Some will say that their spots change throughout they're lives, but I've never seen any of my Knives change spots. I remember someone threw their CK into a pond for the summer and when he fished it out later for the winter, the spots completely changed. Spotless CKs usually tells me that they are Chitala Lopis which don't have spots and gets larger than the average CK. And there are those that have few spots. I've seen one with one spot on each side. There are others that say that there are such things as spotless Chitala Ornata or Chitala Chitala. I haven't researched this myself yet. Hope this helps.
