well i just wanted to see what peoples thoughts were on this,i have seen a few times people keeping large cichlids or fish with alligator snapping turtles and common snappers

i got a 180 gallon 6x2x2, it has adult grown oscars in their 12.5" and some a bit larger, and a large red tail catfish as well at least 19" or so give or take and a large reg. pleco,

also i have a med. sized snapper in a different setup, the snapper is about 8" maybe 9"

would it be safe to add the snapper to the 180 gallon with the fish?
would he go after the fish or try too? they are larger then him

also the 180 is filled to the top since it's a fish tank, i know snappers don't bask much if at all would he have a harder time going to the top for air?

would appreciate any advice or info as well
thanks for reading

no fish is safe with a snapper, not if you value the fish and it's life anyway. Eventually it WILL become a snack. No way around that one.

yeah thats what i thought, and when i see pics of fish tanks with fish and snappers in them i always see the fish in great shape no parts of fins missing nothing and the snapper is hanging out at the bottom,

it would be cool to have the two in a large tank but not sure how people get away with it lol

you can do this for a while, but never a guarantee as this is a snappers natural prey. keep the snapper well fed and give the fish enough room for an escape, this would maximize your time frame.

that is a good point also, if the snapper is constantly fed good well he would be a little lazy to go after a fish bigger then him, but still i can imagine he will be eyeballing the fish all the time,

especially at night when the fish are at the bottom sleeping lol

my littler snapper stalks fish 4x his size and he is fed CONSTANTLY lol, just cannot trust the boogers. GL though, hope it works out well.

Turtles are dirty and I would worry about water quality with the dirty filthy turtle. I have seen tanks like this and the fish always seem mangled sooner or later. Turtle and fish both need their own tanks.
