Will this black background help my JD turn black?

He is yellow not black, will this make him darken up? Anybody know male or female?

It might. The substrate might encourage him to keep his lighter color though.
It's a little young but I'm gonna say it's a male.

ok that's what I was hoping for, do you know if he will be yellow until he dies? Or could he possibly darken up a tad but not he totally black?
