I have a 40g breeder with a convict pair (2-3 inches in length) and I was wondering if I could do 15-20 exodons? Filteration and water changes are not a problem, I got 2 Hydro 4 sponge filters with 100g air pump. Plus I do water changes 3-4 times a week, roughly 30% or more each time.

or you could take out the convict pair put in breeder tank and have a great supply of baby convict feeders for the exodons. i luv my little bucktooth tetras!!! i think you ll find they will strip the scales off the convicts. i often feed convict fry to my exodons. my local fish store breeds them for feeders

For once I'm wondering if convicts will get a run for their money

I'd keep seperately.

try it. but don't be surprised if your convicts come out of it with a Mohawk lookin hair doo cause both sides of their bodies are stripped clean of scales. they will most likely be hiding all the time and stressed right out. exodons never stop pestering or even stop moving for that matter

Theres no chance itll work? Will there be too much aggression?

Not sure if I would call it aggression, more like feeding the exodons. There is a huge difference between predatory behavior and being territory. The exos will overwhelm the convict picking scales off. Then the convict will get super stressed. Even when a cichlid is really aggressive, it’s stressed. The aggressor is a stressed fish too. Stress only leads to health problems.
I recently had to move my astyanax bimculatus because the nipping got too bad. So glad I did.
