Will this ever go back to normal?

well I picked up the other Red Tail Payara today, he has a bent tail and I was wondering if it will ever fix its self?

Looks quite severe maybe secondary to trauma, malnutrition or disease. Doesnt look like it will improve. Sorry

looks like the bone is sticking out of the tail. dont think hes gonna make it without a tail

the tail is fine, it is just a little red before the fin part and it is just bent other then that he is fine. he swims and acts normally.

I said this in another thread so I forgot to say here, this is the new guy I bought like that today...

dont think it will heal completely.
but if hes acting normal then all is good IMO.

Probably won't recover 100%. But should get better. I would keep him in a hospital tank and treat it with some maracyn and maracyn2 for a while and try to get it as good as possible. If your dats beat this one into the gang it might push it over the edge in that condition.

dont ever use meds for hydrolycus sp.
its more bad than good.
just keep the temp. high and add salt.

ya I keep my tank at 85-86* and always have salt in the tank.

well both had a gold fish today so that is a start, now I have 3 fish to get on to shrimp.... stupid stubborn pbass
