I am looking at a 150gal tank 48x31x24 would this make a good tank for Central American Cichlid's (1 of each, jack dempsey, cuban, FH). These are in a grow out tank right now and all seems fine (55gal). Or should I look for something longer?

Just use your best judgement...If you feel ok about it, do it. If at any point in time, you feel you have gotten in over your head, make some changes. I have many different grow outs. I use them as I feel fit, and everyone seems to do just fine.

that foot print looks ok. personaly i would look for something with a 6' length

The guy is asking 150.00 OBO I was going to offer 120.00 w/ out stand (stand is garbage). I have a 125gal. 72X22X18 that I use for my African tank, would I be better off switching the two because of the foot print? A

As a hybrid, the FH is going to probably be iffy on its temperament. Personally I would replace the FH with several fish, but since you already have the fish you might be able to add more depending on the temperament of the FH

that flowerhorn will probably destroy the others in a 4ft tank as they can be extremely bad tempered. the 6ft footprint will give you a much better shot at a community if the flowerhorn is non negotiable.
the 4ft footprint is better for less aggro community of cichlids like sevs, jacks, FM etc or one big aggressive fish like a FH or grammodes.

the cuban and FH will probably fight badly, maybe to the death, eventually. 6ft for those 3 bad boys together IMO, even then that may not work. it may be fine now but they are young if your still growing them out. most aggro cichlids dont start getting nasty till they know they can back it up, usually around the 5-6" mark.

Thanks guys, right now the JD rules the tank. The FH will chase the others but the JD gets in the middle and ends the chase. Just to rub it in I got the tank for 110.00 :D I'll have some pictures next week.
