I have access to some glass from craigslist. Wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on whether or not it would be safe/strong enough to use for DIY.

"I have five old "WinterSeal" windows available...aluminum frame, double pane. 4(4x5) and 1(5x8). Windows slide sideways to open. Must take them all! Call ******* evenings to arrange pick-up time."

Would be a fantastic sized tank if they are usable.

They would work but it is a pain taking thermopanes apart without breaking them. They would also be too thin to be used as the size they are. They could be cut down for small tanks though.

in my expirience they are only 1/4" if your lucky, sliding glass doors are 3/8", so thats good for a bigger tank, and tempered glass sometimes too... so be cairfull... and no there is really no way of telling untill you go to cut it, although tempered glass is sometimes a bit waveyer...

Sorry about the hijack,

I have 2 questions. Could someone tell me how to create my own thread. Been following this site for months and never had to make my own.

I also have access to 3 pieces of glass double pane with no thermal barrier. They are 5'x5'x1". I was wondering if this will work like a solid sheet of 1" glass?
